The other big thing about buying a product is when the company comes out with the next product, you don't get that one for free -) There are some good reasons to get subscriptions, but honestly, for most people, owning it would be the wiser move. ![]() Many companies have gone to subscription models because they want to make billions instead of millions and sucker people who are quickly parted from their money into paying for something long term they might not really need - but make it attractive to pay for it - and like Vegas, the house always wins (many people believe it's better for them, but even if it is, it's still way better for the company.). But at some point, the OS is going to wreck it.Īnd some companies will provide new versions as the OS go up, but they'll stop at some point. If you upgrade your computer and the old plug in still works, you can still use it. If you don't ever upgrade your computer (many people use a dedicated computer for music production and some don't even connect it to the internet!) it'll work as long as the computer still does. Then you'll have to re-buy it if you want it. The only disadvantage to buying a plug in and owning it is that if you upgrade your computer, or DAW, or something down the line, the plug in may no longer work with it.
